Last August, Besiktas announced the signing of the 27-year-old Egyptian international player from English Premier League side Arsenal for one season on loan

Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny says he is happy at Besiktas and wants to stay with the Turkish club, adding that he sees no difference between the Turkish league and the English Premier League.

"I am very happy to be part of the Besiktas family. I want to stay here if the club wants me to," the former Basel FC player Elneny said in an interview with beIN Sports on Tuesday.

Last August, the Turkish giants announced the signing of the 27-year-old international player from English Premier League side Arsenal for one season on loan with an option to make the deal permanent.

"Besiktas is a very big club. The biggest factor in this decision was Mesut Ozil [his teammate in Arsenal]. He is my brother. I asked him about his opinion when the proposal came," said the Pharaohs player, who made 16 league appearances so far this season.

"[Ozil] said that Besiktas was a very big club and had a large fan base," he added.

After spending almost four years in England's top flight football league, Elneny, whose current contract with Arsenal runs until 2023, believes there is no difference between the Premier League and the Turkish counterpart.

"Before I arrived, I thought the difference between the Premier League and the Super League was too much. After I arrived, I saw that there was not as much difference as I had thought. Many teams are in the championship race. All teams are strong enough to beat each other," explained Elneny.

"If the club wants to use the option in my contract to keep me, I would like to stay here. If the conditions allow, I would like to stay," he concluded.

The 27-year-old midfielder joined the English Premier League team in January 2016 from Switzerland's FC Basel.

Before joining Besiktas, Elneny was sought by other Turkish clubs like Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, and was also linked with a move to French side Bordeaux.

Besiktas currently lie in the seventh place on the Turkish league table with 37 points from 23 matches, 23 points behind leaders Istanbul Basaksehir FK.
