No confirmed or suspected coronavirus cases among Egyptians in Kuwait: Ambassador

Egyptian Ambassador to Kuwait Tarek Al-Qouni said on Monday that no cases of the new coronavirus have been detected so far among Egyptians residing in Kuwait.

The Kuwaiti authorities have not announced any suspected cases or infections among Egyptian citizens who have arrived in Kuwait recently, according to a statement by the ambassador.

On Monday, the Kuwaiti health ministry announced ten new cases of the coronavirus in the country, bringing the total number of infections there to 56.

Kuwait's aviation authorities issued a directive on Sunday to all airlines working in Kuwait International Airport, requiring them to impose precautionary procedures on all passengers arriving from Egypt.

According to Egypt's state statistics body CAPMAS, around 231,000 Egyptians had work permits for Kuwait in 2018.

Kuwaiti media estimates the number of Egyptians living in Kuwait to be around 650,000 according to sources in Kuwait's Central Statistical Bureau and interior ministry.
