Hailing from Aswan, Mohamed Basheer is inspired by the Upper Egyptian heritage of Ja’ffary culture.
"Celebrate Ramadan with the lively beats of Basheer's Upper Egyptian folk music with a modern twist — streamed live from the Maq'ad of Sultan Qaitbey," says the introduction to an event scheduled to take place Friday 8 May, between 4pm and 5pm.
The event will be live-streamed from Cairo's City of the Dead, broadcast as a Facebook live event.
Mohamed Basheer's music is inspired by the Ja'ffary culture of Upper Egypt, "where Ja'ffary groups usually include a lead vocalist and musicians who create rhythm with percussion and hand clapping," the note to the event adds.
