Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Sunday issued a decree that Thursday, 2 July, will be a fully paid day off for governmental and private sector workers on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of the June 30 revolution.
The decision also applies to all municipal and public business sector employees.
School and university exams will take place as scheduled on Thursday with no postponement.
Cabinet spokesman Nader Saad said the government had decided to make Thursday a day off instead of Tuesday to give citizens a chance to have a long weekend.
This approach will apply to all national holidays in the coming period, except for Eid Al-Fitr, Eid Al-Adha and Christmas, the spokesman added.
