Egypt reports 703 new coronavirus cases, 68 deaths on Friday

Egypt registered 703 new coronavirus cases on Friday, the health ministry announced, the ninth day in a row that the country has reported less than 1,000 new COVID-19 infections.

The total infection tally jumped to 86,474 across the country since the outbreak began in February.

The ministry also reported 68 new deaths, bringing the total deaths from the virus to 4,188.

The statement said that 611 coronavirus patients have been discharged, bringing the total number of recoveries to 27,302.

The daily increase saw its record high of 1,774 new cases on 19 June.
