Egypt reported 668 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, bringing the total infection tally to 90,413 since the outbreak began in February, a statement by the health ministry read.

The health ministry also reported 40 new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 4,480.
The statement said that 991 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 31,066.

Egypt has been seeing a significant drop in detected coronavirus cases, registering daily cases lower than 1,000 for the 15th consecutive day.

Despite the reopening of the country late month, the daily figure has stabilised with the country's record of daily coronavirus cases — 1,774 infections recorded 19 June — kept unbroken to date.
