Egyptian film 'Saheb El-Maqam' starring Yousra and Asser Yassin will premiere on Shahid VIP streaming platform on 30 July as part of its programme for Eid Al-Adha.
The film, one of the first Arabic movies to premier on a video-on-demand platform, is produced by Ahmed El-Sobky and written by veteran journalist and writer Ibrahim Eissa. The film co-stars Amina Khalil, Riham Abdel-Gahfour, Bayoumi Fouad and Nesrine Amin.
"This is the first Egyptian Sufi film," Eissa, who also wrote 'El-Deif' and 'Mawlana,' which discuss Islamic topics, said about his latest project.
The film is directed by Mohamed Gamal Al-Adl of Umm-Haroun, who has many successful commercial films and TV series under his belt, including Tamer Hosni's 2018 hit El-Badla.
With many mentions of Imam Al-Shafi’i, 'Saheb El-Maqam' discusses superstition, with Yousra portraying a spirit that chases Yassin's character, a wealthy businessman, after he demolishes a shrine to a famous sheikh.
Guests of the film are late actors Ibrahim Nasr and Mahmoud Masoud.
Yousra is one of the most influential Arab actors artistically and socially, with a five-decade-long career that includes more than 100 films and TV series.
Shahid is the first Arabic streaming service in the world that includes new and exclusive content as well as a library of classics.
