Private Egyptian theatre company Cairo Show has resumed this weekend the staging of its musical comedy version of Aladdin at their theatre in 6 October City, dedicating Thursday’s performance to the families of police and army martyrs and Friday's showing to medical staff.

Directed by Magdy Al-Hawary, Aladdin is played by movie star Ahmed Ezz, while Tara Emad is in the role of Jasmine. Comedian Mohamed Tharwat plays the Genie, Samy Maghawry the Sultan, and Hisham Ismael the role of Jaafar.

"This is the least we can do to thank you for your efforts during this tough time," Ezz said after Friday's performance, which witnessed an honoring ceremony for medical staff.

The show, which premiered in Saudi Arabia in December as part of Riyadh Season, will be staged twice a day for another three nights during the celebration of the Muslim holiday of Eid Al-Adha starting Friday 31 July.

The same producers and director launched the Cairo Show project in early 2019 with their hit Talat Ayam Fil-Sahel (Three Days in the North Coast) starring comedian Mohamed Henedy, before producing Yehia El-Fakharany's successful version of Shakespeare’s King Lear.

Programme:
Friday 31 July, Saturday 1 August and Sunday 2 August, at 17:00 and 20:30
Cairo Show Theater-Movenpick Hotel Media at 6 October city
