The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has decided to postpone Tuesday's league game between Masry and Ittihad of Alexandria due to the COVID-19 infections of all the four keepers of the Port Said-based club.

In a statement issued on Monday, the EFA said that following the meeting with Masry officials they decided to postpone the game to "preserve the integrity and fair play in the competition" as the team will have no keepers in their squad.

The EFA said that Masry have now their infections reduced to only eight members but it includes their four keepers.

The Egyptian governing body has also reverted their decision of forfeiting Masry in their previous game against Ismaily after their no-show at the Borg El-Arab Stadium due to the elevated number of infections among the team.

Masry currently have three postponed games since the league restarted on 6 August.

Masry's case has become controversial and added more pressure on an extremely busy schedule.

The team played against Zamalek on the league resume but 48 hours later their PCR tests ahead of Haras El-Hodoud's game revealed 16 infections in the team.

Following a standoff with the club, the EFA decided to amend its rules to include the term that any team with 10 or more infections will see their next game postponed.

However, the team boycotted Ismaily game as they claimed they had 11 infections but failed to report all the cases in due time.

The EFA said they will reschedule the three games and open an investigation into Masry's lack of communication and respect of health guidelines, stressing that the club should bear its responsibilities and prevent similar cases.
