Ceramica Cleopatra FC qualified for the Egyptian Premier League officially on Thursday for the first time ever.

Cleopatra FC have now completed the list of the three promoted teams to the first division after drawing with Gomhoryet Shebin to win the Cairo Group with 43 points.

The Egyptian second division is divided into three regional groups; Cairo, Upper Egypt, and the Delta, with the winners automatically promoted to the Premier League.

Ghazl El-Mahala qualified from the Delta group while the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) club qualified from Upper Egypt.

Ceramica Cleopatra was established in 2006, winning the second tier of the companies’ league in their first season, and then in the next season it turned to play in the fourth tier of the domestic league.

The team’s name became known to football fans when it qualified for the second-tier division in the 2015-2016 season, where they ended in fourth place.

After four seasons in the second tier, Ceramica Cleopatra FC succeeded in reaching the top tier for the first time, adding to the league another club owned by a commercial corporation and without a fan base.
