A criminal court in Upper Egypt’s Sohag has sentenced three young men to three years in prison and a fine of EGP 50,000 each for assaulting a 62-year-old man and pushing him into a canal.
In September, the public prosecution charged the three teenagers late last month with endangering the safety and security of a person with a disability, violating the family principles of society and violating the victim’s privacy.
Egypt has toughened penalties against bullying, setting a minimum prison term of one year and a fine of up to EGP 100,000.
