Among the highlights of El Gouna Film Festival (GFF) was yesterday's special screening of Charlie Chaplin’s 1921 film: 'The Kid', accompanied by a live orchestra.

Considered to be the first show of its kind in the Arab film festivals' scene, the film's music score was provided by musicians from the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, led by the ensemble's principal conductor and music director Ahmed El-Saedi.

A silent comedy-drama, 'The Kid' is among the best known and beloved by the viewers masterpieces by British actor and director Charlie Chaplin. 

The director's first feature-length was recently restored by the Charlie Chaplin Foundation. The film's screening comes in parallel with the international celebration of 'The Kid's' 100th anniversary.

Screening of the film with a live orchestra is part of cinema in concert, a new initiative of the El Gouna Film Festival which in its fourth edition takes place between 23 and 31 October at El Gouna, a luxurious Red Sea resort town.
