Liverpool Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah headed to a luxurious Red Sea resort in Gouna to complete his self-isolation on Sunday, and can return to trainings after only 10 days from contracting the Coronavirus, according to head of Egyptian Health Ministry's scientific committee to combat Coronavirus, Hossam Hosny.

"Salah will undergo a PCR test on Thursday, if the result comes back negative then he can travel back. But it's better to conduct two tests before traveling," Hosny told a television programme.

The 28-year old Egyptian super star's infection was detected on Friday as part of the routine Coronavirus PCR tests conducted before Egypt's game against Togo in the 3rd round of the 2022 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Salah arrived in Egypt on Monday last week to join the Egyptian national team’s training camp ahead of Togo’s game, and trained with the team on Tuesday before being tested for the virus.

He attended his brother’s wedding late on Monday in Cairo, where he was seen in pictures and video footage dancing in the ceremony while surrounded by the audience.

He was also awarded the Inspirer award by the Egyptian Football Association in a ceremony held on Wednesday.

The Egyptian international star is following medical protocol with coordination between the national team's doctor and Liverpool, as he was isolated in his room before traveling to Gouna to complete his isolation period.

"We are in contact with Liverpool but they didn't participate in the method of diagnosis or treatment and they were not against the idea of him traveling to Gouna," Hosny added.

"Like any Egyptian citizen, Salah underwent all needed medical scans and tests that showed he is not suffering from any symptoms and he is now following medical protocol with self-isolation," Hosny said.

Egypt, missing the spark of Mohamed Salah, will face Togo in the 4th round of the qualifiers, after beating the latter 1-0 at home in the 3rd round on Saturday.
