Ahly start closed camp for CAF Champions League final with Moroccan defender Banon appearance
Ahly's South African coach Pitso Mosimane has called all the team's squad, including newly signed defender Badr Benoun, to join the Red Devils' preparatory camp for the game against arch-rivals Zamalek in the CAF Champions League final.
"Ahly will start a closed preparatory camp for the Champions League final after finishing Sunday's training session," read a statement on the club's official website.
"Mosimane called four unregistered players in the team's African squad, including Badr Benoun, to take part in the team's closed camp,"
The Red Devils announced two weeks ago the signing of Raja's Moroccan defender Benoun on a four-year deal. The towering 27-year-old has been a key member of Raja's squad in the past few years.
Ahly are bidding to claim their 9th CAF Champions League title when they face Zamalek in the most prestigious continental tournament's final game on 27 November at Cairo Stadium.
The Cairo giants have been confirmed to lose the services of winger Mahmoud “Kahraba” Abdel-Moneim and talented playmaker Saleh Gomaa after the duo tested positive for COVID-19.
