Egyptian Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Ahmed Morsy and Iraqi Minister of Defense Lieutenant General Jumah Inad Saadoun discussed on Sunday the prospects of cooperation in overhauling Iraqi factories and raising the efficiency of production lines, as well as supplying Iraq with military and civilian products.

The Egyptian ministry said on its Facebook page that both ministers and the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Cairo, Ahmed Nayef Al-Dulaimi, visited the Armors Production and Maintenance Factory, Military Factory 200, outside Cairo in Al-Khankah, and Abu Zaabal Company for Specialized Industries, Military Factory 300.

The meeting saw an agreement on a visit of technical delegations from the Iraqi defense ministry and companies to visit the Egyptian Military Production Ministry to identify areas for future cooperation between the two sides.

The two ministers attended a presentation about each factory’s functions, including the manufacturing, technological and technical capabilities, the products and the projects executed by each factory, and the production lines of the manufacturers that match global production lines and include highly trained workers, the statement added.

Morsy reiterated Egypt’s interest in cooperating with Iraq in terms of strengthening the strategic partnership between national military production companies and Iraqi companies in various fields, highlighting the existing cooperation in areas of military and civilian industrialisation, and the mutual visits between the two sides have proven the mutual interest to establish fruitful industrial partnerships, the statement said.

The Egyptian minister extended an invitation to the Iraqi minister and companies to participate in the upcoming Egypt Defence Expo exhibition scheduled for the end of next year.

The Iraqi minister hailed Egypt’s role in “confronting terrorism and maintaining peace and stability in the region” as well as the well-established historical relations between Iraq and Egypt.

Saadoun expressed his country’s eagerness to strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of Military Production due to the manufacturing and technical capabilities of military production companies and their significant role in providing the requirements of the Egyptian Armed Forces, as well as their role in backing the state's plan for sustainable development.
