Egyptian police arrested on Saturday Sayed Ragab El-Sewerky, the owner of El-Tawheed & El-Nour department stores, for allegedly financing a terrorist group.

According to security sources, El-Sewerky will appear before investigators in the coming hours.

In January 2015, Giza’s Agouza Misdemeanour Court acquitted El-Sewerky of the charge of "insulting the Egyptian flag," as shoes bearing the flag were sold in his chain of stores.

In 2002, he was sentenced to seven years in prison on charges of having five wives simultaneously and falsifying divorce and marriage documents. The sentence was reduced to three years after appeal in 2003.
