Egypt condemned on Wednesday the targeting of Aden airport in the Republic of Yemen during the landing of the Yemeni president's plane, who was accompanied by members of the new cabinet, Egypt's foreign ministry said in a statement.
Earlier on Wednesday, a blast struck the airport in the southern Yemeni city, leaving at least 22 people killed and 50 wounded.
Egypt expressed its solidarity with Yemen, its government, and its people, and offered its sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wished for a speedy recovery for the injured, the statement continued.
The ministry added that Egypt reaffirmed its steadfast position to support Yemen in its struggle to restore security and stability, achieve the aspirations of the brotherly Yemeni people, and confront all forms of terrorism and its supporters.
Egypt also stressed that such villainous acts of terrorism will not deter the new Yemeni government from moving forward with its tasks to restore state institutions and face the formidable challenges that stand before it in pursuit of a comprehensive political settlement to the Yemeni crisis, based on the "Riyadh Agreement" and the agreed terms of reference, the statement noted.
