The CNN Network chose Egypt as one of the top places to go to in 2021 as soon as travel restrictions due to COVID-19 are lifted.
Chosen as a Number five in the list, CNN said that “Visitors of Egypt are likely have a little more breathing room around the Giza Pyramids and the Great Sphinx in 2021. Nearby, the massive new Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) is expected to finally open its doors this year” in reference to the upcoming inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum that is to take place later this year.
“The museum -- a monumental concrete and glass space measuring nearly half a million square meters with a price tag of over $1 billion -- was conceived in 2003 and has been under construction for eight years.” CNN said.
CNN added that King Tutankhamun's treasures will all be exhibited together for the first time at the GEM in addition to the 2020 newly discovered Sarcophagi from Saqqara and 2019-discovered wooden Sarcophagi form Luxor.
Other places in the list include Antarctica, Canada, Disney Parks, Dubai, France, Ghana, Greece, Grenada, Hawaii, Italy, Japan, Spain and Maldives.
