The Ministry of Culture revealed that six mobile theatres are ready to embark on their journeys through many Egyptian cities and villages.

Each of the vehicles will circulate around one of Egypt's regions: Greater Cairo, northern Upper Egypt, southern Upper Egypt, west Delta, east Delta, the Suez Canal, and Sinai.

Bringing performances and numerous cultural activities to areas which have the least access to the riches of Cairo and Alexandria, the project aims to invigorate the creative scene across Egypt while decentralising the field.

The vehicles carry fully equipped theatres with electricity, water services, control panels, sound and light equipment, air-conditioned control rooms, and four tents designed as changing rooms for artists. The mobile theatre is capable of creating a 37.5 square metres stage for a variety of activities.

The ministry and governors within Egypt’s regions are now working on creating a plan of activities which will be carried by the vehicles across Egypt.

The project is aligned with Egypt Vision 2030, which focuses on improving the quality of life of Egyptian citizens across the whole country.

The mobile theaters were implemented in cooperation with the Minister of Defense and Military Production and executed by the Helwan Diesel Engines Company — Factory 909.
