Submissions deadline extended for Egypt's National Film Festival

The new deadline is 7 February 2021 welcoming features, documentaries, shorts and animated films

The Cultural Development Fund operating under the culture ministry announced that the deadline to submit films to National Film Festival (NFF) has been extended until 7 February.

The festival accepts feature films, documentaries, short films and animation films produced in 2020.

However, the event will also include films submitted in 2018 and 2019.

The NFF includes films screened in the following competitive sections with the main one focusing on feature film competition for films that have been shown inside Egypt or on one of the platforms in 2020.

The awards are given to director (first and second work), production, editing, script, music, special jury prize, among others.

For the documentary, short and animation films competition, the NFF's sections are divided into: documentary films up to 15 minutes, documentary films more than 15 minutes, short films less than 60 minutes and animation films less than 60 minutes.

The awards include Best Film Award Jury prize for each section, and an award for the first work of a director in each section.

The festival traditionally takes place in October. However, the organisers did not reveal any informations about the dates for the event's 23rd edition.

The press release informs that the festival will be held in accordance with the developments and decisions taken by the cabinet, taking into consideration the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
