Zamalek's Moroccan winger Mohammad Ounajem has joined former club Wydad of Morocco on a six-month loan deal, the Cairo giants announced on Sunday.

"The interim board agreed to send Ounajem out on loan for Morocco’s Wydad until the end of the current season," reads a statement on the club's official website without disclosing further details.

The future of the 29-year-old with the Whites was recently in doubt amid a reported desire of Portuguese Coach Jaime Pacheco to offload the player.

Onajem, who joined Zamalek from Wydad in July 2019, has made just two league appearances with the white knights this season, with Pacheco relying on forwards Mahmoud Shikabala and Achraf Bencharki consistently in recent matches.

On Saturday, Zamalek’s Football Supervisor Ashraf Kasem revealed that the club is targeting Asante Kotoko Striker Kwame Opoku as a replacement for departed Striker Mostafa Mohamed.

Kasem said that Zamalek is facing a dilemma to sign Opoku since the team's foreign players quota is complete, but now the departure of Onajem would solve the problem.

Zamalek currently lead the Egyptian League table with 23 points from nine games, two ahead of second-placed arch rivals Ahly.
