The interim president of Tunisian team Etoile du Sahel, Abdeljelil Bouraoui, has asked the club’s fans and lovers all around the globe to provide them with support in this critical period.
“A huge lack of gains (stadium income, sponsors, TV rights...) hampers the club efforts in handling the daily work in the different areas and age categories that all are in pole positions for winning titles,” a statement read on the club’s official website.
Bouraoui has asked the supporters to give donations from inside and outside Tunisia.
He also urged the fans to stage a massive turn-out for their tough CAF Champions League game against Ivorian rising side AF Amado Diallo in round 16, on Saturday.
Etoile du Sahel, like all the Tunisian teams, have been hit by financial crises following their 2011 revolution especially given that league games are played behind closed-doors.
The Sousse-based side have also suffered on the administrative level as the civil court has named a transitional committee led by Bouaroui, on 14 April, to run the club until the election of a new board by the general assembly by mid-May maximum.
