Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has assured that the team has nothing to lose when they face European Champions Bayern Munich at the FIFA Club World Cup semifinal next Monday.
Ahly defeated Qatari Champions and hosts Al-Duhail 1-0 at the quarter finals courtesy of a goal from Hussein El-Shahat to set up a showdown with the Bavarian giants.
"Who are we to play against Bayern Munich? A big team who defeated Barcelona 8-2."
“What should I expect against Bayern? We have nothing to lose against them as we will play for entertainment,” he said after the game.
Mosimane praised his players for their efforts during the whole 90 minutes assuring that the game was not easy against the tough team. He also thanked the fans who have supported the team since he joined the club, and especially those who attended the game at the stadium.
It was a sweet revenge for the South African tactician, who was knocked out from the first stage of the competition in 2016 when he was in charge of South African side Mamelodi Sundowns.
The African Champions League winners face an impossible mission next Monday against the German giants, aspiring to achieve history to reach the World Cup final for their first time ever.
Ahly reached the semis three times, winning the bronze in 2006, and claimed fourth place in 2012.
