Ahly's international keeper Mohamed El-Shennawi believes that his side's away win over Vita Club is an ''important'' step in the club's campaign to defend their Champions League title.

The defending champions claimed a 3-0 win over Vita Club of DR Congo away for home in a Champions League group stage game on Tuesday, edging closer to the competition's quarters.

Ahly are now second in their Group A with seven points, three points behind leaders Simba of Tanzania.

"The win against Vita Club is an important step in our campaign for the tenth title," El-Shennawi told the club's official website on Wednesday.

"Our position in the group before the game was unacceptable for the club."

"We were determined to win the game to improve our situation in the group, and we realised our target."

The team's skipper asked players to put the win behind them and to focus on the upcoming clashes, as his side will have many challenges in local and continental scenes.

"There is no room for celebrations now. We have to focus in our remaining games in the Champions League and in the domestic league, as we are looking to win all possible titles."
