Health Minister Hala Zayed said pre-marriage tests for would-be brides have been included in the presidential initiative that focuses on the health of pregnant women and their unborn babies.

Zayed had a teleconference meeting on Wednesday with her assistants and advisors as well as officials responsible for the implementation of President Abdel -Fattah El-Sisi’s initiative for the early detection of hearing impairment and early intervention and treatment for children with hearing loss and the maternal health initiative.

The minister pointed out that certificates will be issued for these tests electronically and will be linked with the Secured and Smart Documents Complex, which was inaugurated by El-Sisi earlier on Wednesday.

Zayed reiterated that the health ministry will cooperate with the justice ministry to issue such certificates electronically, Spokesman for Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said.

The minister urged women to follow up the progress of their medical conditions after marriage under the presidential initiative that aims at the early detection of HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis B virus and syphilis and reducing maternal mortality due to these infections, Megahed added.
