Minister of Transport Kamel El-Wazir
Transport Minister Kamel El-Wazir asserted on Wednesday that training employees on the latest technological systems has been one of his priorities since he was appointed by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi.
El-Wazir's statement was in response to calls on social media to hire foreign experts to operate and maintain the transport ministry’s projects and train its employees.
In a press release, El-Wazir said that his ministry had assigned a number of projects to international companies including RATP company, which was named to manage and operate metro line 3 and Salam-New Administrative Capital-6 October LRT. Other companies were chosen to operate the New Administrative Capital-6 October monorail and other projects.
He added that agreements with these international companies include transferring expertise to Egyptian cadres and hiring at least 90 percent of the workforce from Egypt in the projects.
