The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) has announced that an emergency use authorization has been given to use the CoronaVac vaccine, produced by China's Sinovac Company, in Egypt.

This step is part of the state's efforts to contain Covid-19 and provide the needed vaccines for all citizens to protect health and save lives of all Egyptians.

Mahmoud Yassin, the head of the Central Administration for Biological and Innovative Products at the EDA, said on Monday the authority gave the permission to license the vaccine after making the necessary assessment under the global and local rules to ensure the effectiveness and quality of this product.

CoronaVac vaccine has become the fifth licensed vaccine used in Egypt to counter the outbreak of coronavirus.
