A noticeable increase in coronavirus infections has been seen over the past weeks as the country has entered a third wave of the pandemic.
Egypt’s highest daily count to date was 1,774 on 19 June during the peak of the first wave.
The second wave reached its peak between the last week of December and the first week of January, with the highest toll hitting 1,418 cases on 31 December.
Officials have been urging citizens to stick to all preventative measures as well as to hurry up with the registration for receiving the coronavirus vaccines to spare the country any further spike in infections.
