“Nights with Poultry!”, an exhibition of painting, is currently showing at Arcade gallery. It focuses on the theme of poultry celebrating those creatures sharing the planet with humans.
Through time poultry have appeared in paintings, sculptures, and prints. Poultry are also symbolic. Many cultures through the ages have regarded specific animals as representing divine or supernatural forces.
Bringing together a formidable lineup of 24 visionary and ambitious artists, the exhibition features Alaa Abdel-Rahman, Nourhan Khorshid, Alia Eissa, Ahmed Raafat, Amir Khalil, Hager El-Sayyed, Nahla Darwish, Omar Sherif, Shahira Kamal, Sahar Abdel-Nasser, Salma Mokhtar, Roba Ramy, Rodeina Fouad, Walid Taher, Ziad Faid and many more.
When Laila El-Farouk, founder of the gallery, announced an open call for a chance to exhibit in “Nights with Poultry!” a few months ago, more than 170 artists applied, and the jury selected the works of 18 together with six of the gallery’s artists.
The exhibition is on view until 2 June.
