Egyptian Football Association (EFA) chief Ahmed Megahed revealed on late Monday that the EFA will not begin the new season before all players are vaccinated against COVID-19.

“The new season will not begin, nor will the players receive accreditations unless one of three things happen; the player took the two doses of the vaccine, or one dose, or the player has at least registered on the website and is waiting for his turn,” Megahd told ON Time Sports TV channel.

Egypt is offering free vaccines to citizens and residents that register on the website supervised by the Ministry of Health.

The EFA director added that they will help players in the registration process to take the vaccine as soon as possible, as there are teams that will travel abroad in the next period, such as the U-23 national team that will play in the Olympics, in addition to clubs that will participate in continental competitions.

Megahed also revealed that the final five rounds of the Egyptian Premier League will not be played before all postponed club games are played.
