Egypt affirmed on Monday its solidarity with Pakistan after a deadly train collision that occurred before dawn in the southern part of the country that reportedly killed at least 40 people and injured dozens others.

One passenger train derailed on Monday in the Sindh province, fell across the track, and was then hit within minutes by another passenger train.

Egypt “extends its sincere condolences and sympathy to friendly Pakistan and the relatives of the innocent victims,” the Egyptian foreign ministry said in a statement.

The ministry also wished a speedy recovery for the people injured during the accident.

“The Egyptian government and people affirm their solidarity and support to the government and people of friendly Pakistan amid this painful affliction,” the ministry added.
