The Carter Centre monitoring Sudan's referendum on southern independence called on Monday the voting process "broadly consistent with international standards," and said secession appeared "virtually certain."
"Overall, the referendum process to this point has been successful and broadly consistent with international standards," the Centre said in a statement.
"Based on early reports of vote counting results, it appears virtually certain that the results will be in favour of secession," the group added.
