Aston Villa winger Mahmoud ‘Trezeguet’ Hassan revealed that he refused to join Italy’s Serie A, as he was aiming for the English Premier League, adding that he left Anderlecht following a debate with Rene Weiler.

The Egyptian national team star was reportedly given an offer from Italian giant Inter Milan during his period with Turkish side Kasimpasa, which he exposed during his interview with Ahly TV saying, “In January 2019, I received an offer from a Gulf club estimated at € 5 million for four years, which Kasimpasa refused, then Inter Milan approached to sign me.”

“Inter Milan’s offer was higher than Aston Villa’s, but I turned the offer down after they told me that I’ll be loaned to Parma for a season as Inter’s foreigners’ list was full, and because I was aiming to join the Premier League,” the former Ahly winger added.

Trezeguet joined Belgian side Anderlecht during the 2015 summer transfer window then was loaned to Mouscron after one season before joining Kasimpasa in 2017 on loan, which activated the buying term in July 2018.

“Ahly have rejected offers from France’s Nice, the Scottish club Celtic, and England’s Nottingham Forest, then Anderlecht made a suitable financial offer which Ahly accepted,” said Trezeguet.

“After that I moved to Mouscron with a lower salary, I was receiving a small salary in the first three years of my career abroad, despite my commitment to several expenses, but I was patient until I achieved my dream,” he explained.

Trezeguet and Ahly former coach Rene Weiler worked together in Anderlecht, which wasn’t one of the Egyptian winger’s best periods of his career.

“Weiler was very unjust to me, as he spoke to me in English and French and I didn’t know both languages, so he used to make fun of me, so I decided to leave to join Mouscron because I did not come from a small club (Ahly),” he revealed.

“He treated me badly, and there was a clash between us, which was the reason for me leaving the club.”

“I left Egypt for my European career knowing only how to say hello and goodbye, and I used to have a piece of paper with me that contains words such as 'I want to eat' or whatever I wanted in order to communicate with people, but now thank God I speak English well,” he excluded.

Trezeguet joined Premier League side Aston Villa in July 2019 and managed to secure his place in the starting squad after his notable performance with the club, scoring nine goals and providing five assists from 63 participations.
