Just minutes after winning a record-extending 10th African Champions League title, Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has reminded himself and his team that they must stay humble in order to keep on winning.

"When you win you have to stay humble so people would remember that when you lose," the South African coach told a news conference after Ahly beat South Africa's Kaizer Chiefs 3-0 to claim back-to-back titles on Saturday.

"I don't think how many titles I won, I only think of winning the next game and we have to prepare it the same way we did for this game."

Mosimane extended his impressive record at Ahly, winning a fifth title in just 10 months since he took over the team last October.

"We needed that win and deserved it. Our opponent performed well in the first half until the expulsion. But that’s football and Ahly deserve to create history," he added.

Kaizer Chiefs' Happy Mashiane received a straight red card just before the break after a reckless challenge on Akram Tawfik, paving the way to a comfortable victory for the Red Devils in the second half.

Ahly qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup for the seventh time, with Japan scheduled to host the tournament in December.

Mosimane criticised the tournament's format, which he believes favours the European and South American champions.

"Now we will be back to the Club World Cup. Last year we claimed a medal and played against Bayern Munich. I think it will be another great journey," he said.

"Last year we also beat the South American Champions. I don’t know why we play more games than them. I think FIFA should reconsider this matter."

Ahly won the bronze medal at the Club World Cup in February after beating Brazil's Palmeiras in the third-place playoff.
