Famous Egyptian pop singer Ramy Sabry thanked his fans for the success of last week’s release titled ‘Halet Ektaab’ (“Depression”), asking them to pray for his brother Karim, whom he accompanied on his latest recordings before his tragic death last month.

“I always used to say to Karim that we should sing together but he rejected me because he wanted to sing his first song without my help and that was his point of view which didn’t convince me. But I always let him do what he thought until he died shocking me and everyone,” Ramy Sabry wrote in an emotional Arabic-language statement mourning his brother and asking his fans for prayers, after previously releasing Halet Ekte’ab on 1 August.

Halet Ektaabfeatures the sad surrendering lyrics of Abeer Elrazaz, composed by Karim Sabry. The song is arranged by Mohamed Atef Elhelw and mixed and mastered by Hany Mahrous. It features Amir Samir (strings), Ahmed Hussien (guitar), Yahia Mahdy (cello), Ahmed Khairy (nay) with art direction made by Mostafa Hussien.

“This work is dedicated to the memory of the beloved Karim Sabry,” stated Ramy Sabry in the YouTube description of the song that was streamed by over 1.1 million viewers in a week, adding that all the participants volunteered their contributions and were not being compensated.

Halet Ekte’ab is among the trending music in Egypt this week, alongside many summer pop releases from multiple stars including; Tamer Hosny who is trending for his Saa’ba and Baehbbak, as well as Hamaki who kicked off the release of his new album with Zayaha Meen, in addition to Ruby’s family anthem Omak Abok, Hussain Al Jassmi’s Hetta Men Albi, Angham and Wael Kafoury duet Bardo Betwehashni, alongside many mahragan and rap hits.
