With his film ‘Mesh Ana’ reportedly breaking regional box office records, Egyptian pop star Tamer Hosny has been having outstanding success this summer, as he has been trending with multiple hits recently, including his latest track ‘Saa’ba’, which has been viewed by over 52.7 million users on YouTube alone since its 20 July release.
With such a boom, the trap-ma’soum recipe ‘Saa’ba’ — which was written by Aziz El-Shafei and arranged by Abdel-Rahman Shawky — has great potential to be among the top-listened to pop hits of the summer in Egypt and the Arab world.
Other less viewed hits of Tamer Hosny’s this season include his film’s songs: ‘Mesh Temthal’ and ‘Bahbek’, both of which gained wider attention after co-star Hala Shiha stirred controversy by disavowing her appearance in some romantic scenes in the movie, earning herself a suspension as well as a big marketing boost for the film.
Tamer Hosny, who performed big concerts in Egypt’s New Alamein City and the UAE’s Abu Dhabi last month, is also gearing up for a concert in Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah on 13 August.
The 43-year-old celebrity, whose fashion line has sponsored Egypt’s Olympic team, has also starred in various advertisements endorsing mega-spending telecom and soda products.
Tamer Hosny, who recently took part in the UNHCR’s refugee campaigns in Egypt as well as the Red Crescent’s campaigns to save under-attack Palestinians, has gained fans’ appreciation last week after mediating for an amicable end to singer Diab’s contract with producer Nasr Mahrous after a war of words between the pair raged in the local media for a few days.
