Egypt received a new shipment of 299,680 AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine doses donated by the UK through COVAX initiative, according to the World Health Organization.
The shipment is part of a plan to share 80 million Covid-19 vaccines with COVAX by the UK government.
The shipment is among the first tranches in the plan directed at African countries.
This week the UK sent shipments to several African countries including Egypt, Zambia, Congo, Senegal and Uganda, according to COVAX.
This is the latest shipment of AstraZeneca Egypt received through COVAX.
Egypt also received on Friday night 1,766,400 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine under the COVAX initiative.
The country has also received its first shipment of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, comprising 261,600 doses.
The government has set a goal to vaccinate 40 million citizens by the end of the year using the AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Sinovac, Sputnik and Johnson & Johnson vaccines it has imported.
