Once upon a time, there was a safe Afghanistan. Following a series of atrocious events, it turned into a black hole on the map; the worst fate a nation can meet.

A long, dark night has fallen on Afghanistan, killing all hope of a promising dawn after the country has fallen into the bloody hands of the Taliban.

The picture was not gloomy 60 years ago. As the photos show, life was normal before the nightmare began. People had led ordinary lives. Women wore colourful dresses and their faces were not a taboo hiding shamefully behind the Shadour.

There were music lessons, cars of all brands... There was life.

Students walked to school fearlessly. In their worst nightmares they could not have possibly imagined a story as horrific as Malala's.

They cheerfully baked desserts so sweet, but alas, their grandsons would not know such simple pleasures.

Today, the people of Afghanistan long for nothing more than a time machine to take them back to when there was life.'
