Zamalek Chairman Hussein Labib announced that he has some reservations regarding Moroccan winger Achraf Bencharki’s conditions to renew his contract with the White Knights, and he is hopeful that both parties will reach an agreement after the end of the Egyptian Premier League season.

Reports in Egyptian media claimed that the Moroccan winger asked for a substantial pay raise to agree to extending his stay with the Cairo giants, prompting the Whites’ management to decide to hold official talks with the player by the end of the season.

“We have two differences with Bencharki, and we will resolve them during the coming official negotiation meeting with the player,” Labib told a television programme late on Saturday.

“We will be holding the official meeting with Bencharki after the end of the Egyptian Premier League season,” he added.

The Cairo giants’ management are expected to do their best to keep the Moroccan star in their squad to avoid what happened with Tunisian midfielder Ferjani Sassi, who left the club last June after failing to reach an agreement with the Whites over the renewal of his contract.

26-year-old Bencharki joined Zamalek in the summer of 2019, becoming a key player in the team’s squad after making 76 appearances with the White Knights in all competitions and scoring a total of 29 goals. He has made a number of strong displays throughout this season, as well.

Zamalek are in the driving seat of the Egyptian Premier League teams’ table with 76 points, four points ahead of rivals and title holders Ahly with only two games remaining to finish the season.
