A shot from Dina El-Wedidi's last video-clip 'Ya Badr' released in February
Egyptian singer and songwriter Dina El-Wedidi will perform a concert at the historic site of the Citadel of Salah Al-Din on Sunday 29 August as part of the 29th edition of the Citadel Festival for Music and Songs.
The well-known singer and songwriter will perform a selection from her repertoire, which is rooted in her Egyptian heritage but also features wider African and global influences.
El-Wedidi is expected to perform some of her best-known songs like Tedawar W-Tergaa, Al-Seirah, Kotr El-Wagaa and Fi Belad El-Agayeb, as well as her latest collaboration with DJ Totti Ya Badr and El-Koun.
Earlier in the same night, Boghdady Big Band will hold a jazz concert for a number of known standards at 8pm.
Hosting two concerts every day, one at 8pm and one at 10pm, the festival, which has been gaining the attention of thousands every day since its launch in mid-August, will conclude on 30 August with concerts by Marimba player Nesma Abdel-Aziz and Medhat Saleh.
An appealing line-up of artists will perform in the upcoming days, including Hazem Shaheen and Carmen Soliman on Monday, Nada Sharara and Hany Shaker on Tuesday, Nouran Abu Taleb and Hisham Abbas on Wednesday, the band Speed of Hearts and Mohamed Mohsen on Thursday, Mohsen Hassan and Jannat on Friday and Tabla player Said El-Artist and Nesma Mahgoub on Saturday.
