Egyptian winger Amr Warda has left PAOK FC to join Cypriot club Anorthosis, the Greek club announced on Monday.
"PAOK FC announces the transfer of Amr Warda to Anorthosis. The Double-headed Eagle [PAOK] will receive 50 percent of any future sell-on fee for the player should he eventually move on from the Cypriot club at some stage," reads a short statement on PAOK's official website.
The 27-year-old Warda re-joined PAOK from fellow Greek side Volos in the January transfer window and has made a fine impact since, netting three goals in 27 appearances in all competitions.
Warda, who helped PAOK win the Greek Cup title back in May, was committed to PAOK with a contract that runs until the summer of 2022.
The Egyptian international's departure to Anorthosis comes amid a reported dispute with PAOK coach Razvan Lucescu.
The former Ahly player, who has made 30 international appearances so far, began his overseas career in August 2015 when he signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Greek club Panetolikos, on a free transfer from the Cairo giants.
Warda’s European football career has not been a stable one, with repeated accusations of him lacking commitment.
In the summer of 2017, around seven months after he joined PAOK, he moved to Feirense, but the Portuguese side annulled the loan agreement just three days later, with a reported ethical reason at the time.
Warda had three other loan stents out of PAOK; two at Atromitos and one at Larissa amid several reported disputes with PAOK’s management and coaches at different times.
Warda was a member of the Egyptian national team which played in the 2018 World Cup and in the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
Anorthosis ended the Cypriot top flight league last season in the fourth place with 57 points, 22 points behind title winners AC Omonia.
