Senegal started their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 2-0 home win over Togo on Wednesday to top Group H with three points.

Liverpool ace Sadio Mane opened the scoring in the 56th minute and Abdu Diallo doubled the lead with nine minutes remaining.

In Group I, Guinea Bissau were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Guinea.

The visitors stunned the hosts with a seventh-minute goal from Francois Kamano but Joseph Mendes leveled the score one minute into the second half.

Earlier in the day, Central African Republican drew 1-1  with Cap Verde in the opening game of Group C.

The leaders of the 10 groups will advance to a final two-legged playoff round to determine Africa's five representatives at next year's Qatar finals.
