Wed 15, 4pm (Cairo time): “Atacama Desert: Gateway to the Universe”, webinar is organized by the Embassy of Chile in Cairo, on the occasion of the National Day of Chile. 

It will introduce Chilean astronomer Eduardo Unda-Sanzana, Ph.D. in Astronomy, Director of the Astronomy Center at University of Antofagasta, who will offer a tour of the night skies of the Atacama Desert, in the Antofagasta Region in northern Chile, revealing some of Chile’s most remarkable features, as well as introducing astrophotography techniques for capturing images of the night sky. The Antofagasta Region is home to some of the world's largest astronomical observatories and is famous for its extraordinary natural landscapes. Its location in the Atacama Desert makes this area an exceptional setting for observing the Universe.

Fri 10,10am: “Story Time” with actress, artist and translator Lamia Gouda, who takes us on a new storytelling hour. 

 

Fri 10, 11am-1pm: For the start of the school year, the new scientific workshop for children from 8 years old by Taïna Cluzeau, helps children discover the history of secret codes. How they are invented? How to decode them? How to create your own secret language. Between history, science and mathematics, Cluzeau will teach them how to become real secret agents.

Italy has been celebrating the 700th anniversary of the passing of Dante Alighieri. Also, the Italian Institute continues to post videos in Arabic with translations from Dante Alighieri’s masterpiece The Divine Comedy to bring the Arab-speaking public closer to the work of the supreme poet. Videos are directed by Giabluca Barbadori, with the special participation of Ashraf Farouk, Amir Salaheddin, Sherine Hegazy, and Sara El-Mokadem.

 

The Italian Cultural Institute in Cairo, the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation in Egypt and the Trādūxit Laboratory, in order to promote the translation and dissemination of Italian and Swiss-Italian poetry in Arabic-speaking countries, announce the second edition for the countries of Arabic language of the M'ILLUMINO / D'IMMENSO award.
