Up-and-coming VfB Stuttgart striker Omar Marmoush said the game against Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Bundesliga was a display of what he can do.
Eintracht scored the first goal of the game in the 79th minute, shortly after which, Stuttgart lost their defender, Waldemar Anton, who was sent off in the 82nd minute.
Marmoush then saved his team by scoring an equaliser two minutes before the end of the game in his Stuttgart debut.
“I’m very happy with my goal and how the whole team showed good character. I think we deserved a point with our attitude. For me, this game was all about coming in and showing what I can do,” Marmoush told VfB Stuttgart’s official website.
The 22-year-old Egyptian joined Vfb on loan from Wolfsburg until the end of the current season after he was loaned to St. Pauli from January to June 2021.
From his side, Stuttgart coach Pellegrino Matarazzo praised the efforts of his players who didn’t buckle under the pressure and kept fighting.
“Scoring a point after falling behind and [pushing onwards with] a man down is very important for us. It’s worth a lot more than just a single point and could give us a psychological boost. We showed great character in the closing stages of the game. We’re at a stage where we’re still finding our feet,” Matarazzo told VfB Stuttgart’s official website.
Stuttgart are currently in tenth place of the Bundesliga standings table with four points after playing four matches.
