Sisi affirms Egypt's keenness to further develop cooperation with Iraq

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi affirmed on Wednesday Egypt's keenness to bolster relations with Iraq in all fields.

During a meeting with speaker of the Iraqi House of Representatives Mohamed Al-Halbousi in Cairo, the president affirmed Egypt's full readiness to exchange expertise with Iraq and support the Iraqi government in all its efforts to restore the country's stability, presidential spokesman Bassam Rady said.

El-Sisi said the upcoming parliamentary elections will play an effective role in shaping the future of Iraq and strengthening its national institutions.

He also affirmed Egypt's rejection of any foreign interference in Iraq's domestic affairs.

Halbousi, for his part, said the recurrent visits by President El-Sisi to Iraq have contributed to consolidating relations between the two countries, and expressed appreciation for Egypt’s role in restoring Iraq's stability.

He also expressed Iraq's keenness on developing relations with Egypt in various fields, especially at the parliamentary level.
