Egypt's National Research Institute Of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) recorded on Monday a 5.3-magnitude earthquake that struck Crete island at 8:17am.
The Island is located 460 km away from the Egyptian coastal city of Marsa Matrouh.
Some reports of damage were out in Crete, head of the NRIAG Gad El-Qadi said, while no damage was reported in Egypt.
The epicenter of the quake was 23 kilometers (14 miles) northwest of Arvi at a depth of 10 kilometers, the Athens Geodynamic Institute said.
