Egypt reports 702 new coronavirus cases, 37 deaths on Monday

Egypt's Health Ministry announced on Monday that 702 new Covid-19 cases were recorded officially in the country in the past 24 hours, bringing the total infection tally officially to 302,327 since the start of the outbreak in February 2020.

The health ministry also reported 37 new deaths that have raised the death toll in Egypt from the virus to 17,224.

588 patients have been discharged from hospitals after recovering from the virus, the statement added raising the number of recoveries to 302,327.

Earlier Monday, the ministry announced that it will set up 1,100 vaccination centres to vaccinate the university students before the start of the academic year 2021/22 in mid-October as part of the government's plan to vaccinate both university students and staff. 

 According to the latest official numbers, more than 13 million Egyptian have been vaccinated against coronavirus so far since the start of the mass vaccination in early 2021.
