This will take place as part of an event that will be organised in cooperation with the sports ministry and the Egyptian Diving and Lifesaving Federation, the Suez Canal Authority said in a statement on Sunday.
Egypt inaugurated the New Suez Canal in 2015 as a major parallel extension of the 193-kilometre-long original canal that connects the Mediterranean to the Red Sea.
Baroky’s attempt coincides with Egypt's celebration of the 48th anniversary of Egypt’s victory at the 6 October 1973 War.
Several Egyptian media personas and public figures have expressed their support to Baroky for his attempt to cross the new canal.
Baroky, a 36-year-old fin-swimmer, told state-owned Akhbar Al-Youm newspaper in 2019 that he set the world record for the highest jump out of water wearing a mono-fin two times, recording a 2.05 metre jump.
He has also been training to swim across the English Channel, which connects England with France and extends to around 34 kilometres at the closest points.
In June, Baroky managed to swim for 13 kilometres in Timsah Lake, which also lies on the Suez Canal.
