This comes as part of the country’s celebrations for the 48th anniversary of the 6 October War in 1973, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.
El-Sisi also chaired a meeting of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, the spokesman added.
Egypt achieved victory in the October 1973 war against Israel, paving the way for the return of the occupied Sinai Peninsula to the homeland after a peace deal was signed with Israel.
The war eventually led to Israeli forces withdrawing from the Sinai Peninsula on 25 April 1982 after 15 years of occupation based on a peace treaty signed between Egypt and Israel in 1979.
The government announced earlier that Thursday 7 October will be a paid holiday for the public and private sectors instead of Wednesday.
Last year, the government decided to make Thursday a day off whenever a public holiday falls on a weekday to “give citizens a chance to have a long weekend.”
