Fresh from producing a scintillating display in Liverpool's 2-2 Premier League draw with Manchester City, Salah will spearhead Egypt's attack against Libya in Carlos Queiroz's first competitive match in charge of the Pharaohs.

Salah shone with a sublime goal and an equally impressive assist as Liverpool played out a thrilling draw with Man City on Sunday.

The 29-year-old, who netted for the seventh consecutive game, took his tally to nine goals in as many appearances in all competitions following another virtuoso display.

He also moved level on six goals with Leciester City striker Jamie Vardy on top of the Premier League's scoring chart.

Salah's form gives Egypt every reason to believe they can brush aside Libya in the home and away games.

Queiroz took over at the team after Hossam El-Badry was sacked following a disappointing 1-1 draw away to Gabon last month, which left Egypt trailing surprise leaders Libya by two points after two Group F matches in the World Cup qualifiers.

Egypt also welcome back key midfielder Mohamed Elneny, who missed the opening two matches against Angola and Gabon because of an injury. The Arsenal man joined up with his Egypt teammates on Monday.

The seven-time African champions host Libya in Alexandria on Friday before meeting their North African neighbours away from home three days later. Only the group winners will advance to a final two-legged playoff for a place at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
